The first "Star Wars" film (retroactively titled "Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope") was the beginning of a massively popular movie franchise whose legacy lives on today all throughout the United States. It was a groundbreaking film for its time due to its generous usage of Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI), and it sparked a large resurgence of Science Fiction movies of all kinds in Hollywood.
The beginning credits are very light, consisting only of the film studio, title, and producer. The main image emphasized is that of a starry background, showing that this film largely takes place in space and the characters will use technology barely imaginable to current humans. Even the font style contributes to the effect.
Its introduction is very interesting because as opposed to most other films, it uses a large rolling block of text to provide exposition to the viewers, rather than the usual method of using in-movie dialogue. The genre of the film, science fiction, is immediately evident not only because of the plot provided in the introduction, but also the musical score, consisting of "science"-y music.
A theme that is shown immediately though is adventure and courage, which are common themes in war movies of any type.
The technology, the groundbreaking CGI, was used very effectively in the rest of the movie but isn't heavily used in the opening scene.
A strategy used to appeal to the target audience is the music, which would be appealing to those who would like to watch movies on Science Fiction.
